Jim Hogg County schools enrolled 940 students who identified as economically disadvantaged in the state during the 2021-22 school year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of the 1,078 students enrolled in Jim Hogg County schools, 87.2% were considered economically disadvantaged. This is a 5.4% decrease from the previous school year.

Jim Hogg County enrolled the 78th lowest number of students identified as economically disadvantaged among Texas counties.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they're offering better education for more Texas students.
