Henry Cuellar, a seasoned Congressman representing Texas’ 28th district in the U.S. Congress since 2005, has shared his latest insights on various significant topics affecting his constituency. Cuellar, born in Laredo, Texas in 1955, and an alumnus of Georgetown University and the University of Texas at Austin, continues to emphasize his dedication to the community through his public service.

On May 2, 2025, Cuellar expressed concerns over the impact of a proposed budget on programs essential to Texas’ 28th district. Cuellar stated, “The proposed budget by the administration threatens programs vital to #TX28, including education, healthcare, and housing support. Make no mistake: I’m committed to protecting these essential services for our families and communities.”

On May 3, 2025, Cuellar commended Gregg Popovich for his contributions to basketball and leadership in Texas. Cuellar remarked on Popovich’s new appointment, “Gregg Popovich transformed basketball in Texas and set a standard of leadership admired nationwide. His new role as president of the @spurs ensures the team remains a source of pride for our state and our country.”

Later that same day, Cuellar highlighted a momentous occasion in Hebbronville at the Historical Marker Dedication Ceremony. Celebrating local heritage, he tweeted, “It was a meaningful day in Hebbronville as we gathered for the Historical Marker Dedication Ceremony honoring El Colegio Altamirano — a historic Spanish-language escuelita that played a pivotal role in shaping the educational and cultural fabric of this community. I was honored”

Cuellar replaced former representative Ciro Rodriguez in 2005 and has since been dedicated to advancing the welfare of his constituency. He previously served in the Texas House of Representatives from 1987 to 2001.
