Rep. Henry Cuellar, serving as the representative for Texas’ 28th congressional district since 2005, recently shared updates on his official Twitter account regarding various events and recognitions. Cuellar has been representing this district since succeeding Ciro Rodriguez in 2005 and boasts a long career that includes tenure in the Texas House of Representatives.

On May 1, 2025, Cuellar celebrated the opening of Cielos Boutique in Laredo. His tweet stated, “Laredo welcomed a stylish new addition to its local business scene with the grand opening of Cielos Boutique. Representing my office, Outreach Coordinator Melissa Peña joined the celebration and presented a Congressional Certificate of Recognition to the Maldonado family.”

Later that day, Cuellar expressed his pride in being acknowledged for his role in combating retail crime. He tweeted, “It’s an honor to be recognized by @NRFnews as a #retailcrime fighter. I’m proud to support the Combating #OrganizedRetailCrimeAct to crack down on theft rings, protect local businesses, and keep our communities safe. In DC, I’ll keep standing with law enforcement and retailers.”

Furthermore, Cuellar shared his involvement in celebrating Army Day at the Alamo during the Fiesta in San Antonio. His message read, “Army Day at the Alamo during Fiesta was a meaningful occasion, honoring our Army service men and women. Representing my office, Outreach Coordinator Olivia Branson attended the event, which highlighted the Army’s role in Texas history.”

Henry Cuellar, born in Laredo, Texas in 1955, continues to actively participate in events and initiatives impacting his district and beyond. With an educational background from Georgetown University and the University of Texas at Austin, he has maintained a steady political career since 1987.
