Later on October 2, he addressed rising health care costs in an interview with NewsNation’s Blake Burman: “I joined @BlakeBurman on @NewsNation to talk about how we open the government while protecting Americans from even higher health care costs. Henry Cuellar has represented his district in Congress for several terms. He has secured reelection in every general election since 2014, most recently defeating Jay Furman in 2024 with 52.8% of the vote compared to Furman’s 47.2%. In previous cycles he defeated Cassy Garcia in 2022 with 56.65% of the vote; Sandra Whitten in 2020 with 58.3%; Arthur Thomas in 2018 with a significant margin; Zeffen Hardin in 2016; and Will Alkens in 2014.
Cuellar’s recent posts reflect ongoing partisan tensions surrounding federal funding negotiations and highlight concerns specific to border communities reliant on trade.
