Rep. Henry Cuellar, a longtime U.S. Congressman from Texas, recently addressed economic and community issues in a series of posts on his social media account.
On September 8, 2025, Cuellar highlighted concerns over trends in the lumber industry, stating, “Lumber prices are falling and that should concern every American. Mills are cutting output and builders are slowing projects because of weakening housing demand and tariff uncertainty. I’m working with my Democrat and Republican colleagues to address these challenges head-on,” (posted September 8, 2025). In the same post sequence, he encouraged followers to read more from The Wall Street Journal: “Read more from @WSJ:

Later that evening, Cuellar shared a personal note about supporting local businesses: “My wife Imelda and I enjoyed a delicious meal at F&F Japanese Grill in Laredo. We appreciated the warm welcome from the staff and had a great conversation with the owners. Supporting our local businesses is always important! https://t.co/QjkbMDZzZ1” (September 8, 2025).
Henry Cuellar has served as U.S. Representative for Texas’s 28th congressional district for several terms. He has consistently won re-election against various challengers over the past decade—defeating Jay Furman in 2024 by a margin of roughly five percentage points; Cassy Garcia in 2022 by thirteen points; Sandra Whitten in 2020 by nearly twenty points; Arthur Thomas in 2018 with over eighty percent of the vote; Zeffen Hardin in 2016 by thirty-five points; and Will Alkens in 2014 with an overwhelming majority.
