On September 12, 2025, Cuellar wrote about the impact of recent severe weather in Texas: “In July, devastating floods swept through the Texas Hill Country, claiming the lives of 135 people and injuring many more. To help prevent tragedies like this in the future, I secured language directing @NOAA to upgrade early warning systems for severe weather and improve https://t.co/lipKB5U4oT”. The post referenced efforts to enhance early warning systems managed by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
Later that day, Cuellar commented on a separate incident involving gun violence at a Colorado high school: “On Wednesday, a shooter entered a high school in Colorado and wounded two children. As a father, my heart aches for the young people harmed by this senseless act of violence and for every parent who fears for their kids in environments that should always be safe. The tragedies”.
