Rep. Henry Cuellar, who has been serving in the U.S. Congress representing Texas’ 28th district since 2005, recently made several announcements via social media regarding developments impacting his constituents and broader international relations.

On January 31, Rep. Cuellar announced federal funding for water infrastructure projects in Laredo. He stated, “This afternoon in Laredo, I announced $20 million in federal funding for critical water infrastructure—funding I helped secure through the latest government funding bill.” The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is involved with this initiative.

On February 3, Rep. Cuellar shared news about a local organization’s new certification status. He mentioned, “This morning I joined Elizabeth Alonzo-Villarreal, CEO of NeighborWorks Laredo, to announce their official certification as a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI).” This development aims to enhance financial opportunities through expanded access to federal funds.

Later that day, he commented on an international agreement between the United States and Mexico regarding tariffs and drug trafficking efforts. Cuellar expressed satisfaction with the outcome by stating, “The administration has agreed to pause tariffs on Mexican goods in return for Mexico’s help in combatting drug trafficking at the border with national guard troops.”
