Rep. Henry Cuellar, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Texas’ 28th district, shared updates on recent events through his social media platform. Born in Laredo, Texas, Cuellar has been a longstanding figure in Texan politics since replacing Ciro Rodriguez in 2005.
On May 12, 2025, Rep. Cuellar announced that his Laredo Outreach Coordinator, Melissa Pena, attended the ribbon-cutting and grand opening ceremony for Laredo Optical Co. on his behalf. During the event, she presented a Congressional Certificate of Recognition to mark the occasion. “My Laredo Outreach Coordinator, Melissa Pena, had the pleasure of attending the ribbon-cutting and grand opening ceremony for Laredo Optical Co. on my behalf.”
Later that day, Rep. Cuellar expressed his honor at joining Nixon High School’s community to celebrate two exceptional students: Xerina Noreen Coleman and Gabriel Lerma. He highlighted their talents and commitment as they received recognition for their achievements. “It was a true honor to join the Nixon High School community in celebrating two outstanding students whose talents and commitment shine brightly: Xerina Noreen Coleman and Gabriel Lerma.”
On May 13, 2025, Rep. Cuellar revisited J.W. Nixon High School to celebrate these students further—his alma mater—and expressed pride in nominating Xerina Coleman to the United States Naval Academy Preparatory School while extending congratulations to Gabriel Lerma as well.“It’s always wonderful being back at my alma mater…I’m proud to have nominated Xerina Coleman to the @NavalAcademy Preparatory School.”
Henry Cuellar has served Texas’ 28th District since 2005 after previously serving in the Texas House of Representatives from 1987 to 2001.
