Rep. Henry Cuellar, U.S. Representative for Texas’s 28th congressional district, recently shared updates on his legislative activities and community engagement through a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter).

On September 3, 2025, Cuellar highlighted his efforts to improve federal agency accountability during a bill markup session: “During today’s Financial Services and General Government Appropriations Bill markup, I introduced an amendment to ensure federal agencies deliver real results for the American people. My amendment strengthens oversight, modernizes the metrics agencies use to evaluate themselves,” he wrote.

Later that day, Cuellar announced funding secured for border infrastructure as part of national security appropriations: “As part of the FY26 National Security Appropriations bill, I helped secure $237.6 million for the International Boundary and Water Commission – to strengthen water infrastructure and improve management along the U.S.–Mexico border. This funding reflects our commitment to”.

On September 4, 2025, Cuellar acknowledged local community leaders at a recent event attended by his staff: “My Laredo Outreach Coordinator, Andre Velazquez, recently attended the LULAC Council 12 reveal of the 2025 Tejano Achievers Award honorees. Cuellar has maintained a consistent presence in Congress over several election cycles. In 2024, he won re-election against Jay Furman with 52.8% of the vote; previous victories include defeating Cassy Garcia in 2022 with 56.65%, Sandra Whitten in 2020 with 58.3%, Arthur Thomas in 2018 with 84.4%, Zeffen Hardin in 2016 with 66.2%, and Will Alkens in 2014 with 82.1%. These results reflect his ongoing support within his district.
