U.S. Representative Henry Cuellar recently highlighted his engagement with local communities and officials in a series of social media posts. The congressman, who has represented Texas’s 28th district through several successful election cycles, documented visits and discussions with law enforcement, healthcare providers, and local leaders over the course of October 16 and 17, 2025.
On October 16, Cuellar posted about a visit to the Webb County Sheriff’s Office during a community event. He wrote, “I dropped by Palenque Grill to visit the @webb_county Sheriff’s Office while they were celebrating Boss’s Day. It was great to join in the celebration and thank our local law enforcement officers for their leadership, service, and dedication to keeping our community safe!”
The following afternoon, Cuellar shared details from a tour at a local health center. On October 17, he stated, “This afternoon in Poteet, I visited the Poteet Community Federal Health Center and toured the facility to see firsthand the vital services they provide to the community. During the visit, I had the opportunity to learn more about the center’s programs and how they support”
Later that day, Cuellar discussed the impact of federal government operations on South Texas residents. He posted, “In Atascosa County, I held a roundtable with local officials and community leaders to discuss how the government shutdown is affecting South Texans. When Washington stops working, it’s our families who feel it first. Small businesses are waiting on contracts, farmers are waiting”
Cuellar has maintained a strong electoral record over recent years. In 2024, he secured re-election against Jay Furman with 52.8% of the vote. Previous victories include wins over Cassy Garcia in 2022 (56.65%), Sandra Whitten in 2020 (58.3%), Arthur Thomas in 2018 (84.4%), Zeffen Hardin in 2016 (66.2%), and Will Alkens in 2014 (82.1%). These results reflect sustained support within his district.
