U.S. Representative Henry Cuellar, who serves Texas’ 28th district, has recently shared updates on his legislative actions and community engagement through a series of posts on social media.
On July 18, 2025, Rep. Cuellar addressed fiscal responsibility during an appropriations markup. He stated, “During today’s Appropriations markup, I offered an amendment to make sure every taxpayer dollar is measured and accounted for. It’s simple: we can’t just spend – we have to track outcomes, review regulations, and demand performance. That’s how we deliver better results for the”.
The following day, July 19, 2025, he reported on a press conference held in Laredo with Mayor Treviño concerning border security efforts involving the Department of Defense. Cuellar wrote, “Today, I held a press conference alongside Mayor Treviño to update the community on how the Department of Defense is supporting border security here in Laredo.
Last week, I toured one of the Stryker units with Mayor Treviño, Customs and Border Protection, and Army leadership to”.
Later that same day, Cuellar recognized a local business owner for his contributions to the community. He posted on July 19: “I was honored to present a Congressional Certificate of Recognition to Danny Lopez, owner of Danny’s Restaurant and others, in celebration of his 70th birthday.
This milestone is a testament to a lifetime of hard work, wisdom, and the positive impact he has made on everyone”.
Henry Cuellar has represented Texas’s 28th District in Congress since 2005 after replacing Ciro Rodriguez. Before serving in Congress, he was a member of the Texas House of Representatives from 1987 to 2001. Born in Laredo in 1955 and currently residing there at age 67, Cuellar holds degrees from Georgetown University (BA) and the University of Texas at Austin (JD).
