Later that day, he highlighted a meeting with Jeff Austin, former Texas Department of Transportation Commissioner: “It was great to meet this week in D.C. with my good friend and former @TxDOT Commissioner, Jeff Austin. Jeff has been instrumental over the years in advancing Texas transportation and infrastructure projects that keep our communities connected and support economic growth across”.

In another post dated April 17, 2026, Cuellar summarized his week in Washington: “It was another productive week in Washington as we moved forward with FY27 budget hearings and met with South Texas constituents on a range of priorities, including concerns about proposed border wall construction and ICE detention facilities in San Antonio and McAllen.”
