Rep. Henry Cuellar, a Democratic congressman from Texas’s 28th district, recently shared updates on social media about his participation in a televised discussion regarding the future of the Democratic Party and his ongoing advocacy for adult education in Texas.
On September 16, 2025, Cuellar posted about his appearance on NewsNation with Leland Vittert and Richard Goodstein, stating: “Last night, I joined @LelandVittert on @NewsNation alongside Richard Goodstein to discuss the future of the Democratic Party. In such a divisive moment for our country, it’s clear our path forward will only come from the middle – by focusing squarely on the issues that matter”. Later that day, Cuellar highlighted a meeting with Irene Ramos, who represents COABE (the Coalition on Adult Basic Education), serves as Vice President of the Texas Association for Literacy and Adult Education, and is a constituent of Texas’s 28th district. He wrote: “Today I met with Irene Ramos, a representative of @COABEHQ, Vice President of the Texas Association for Literacy and Adult Education, and #TX28 constituent, to discuss the importance of expanding adult education in Texas. Federal investments in these programs help open doors to”.
Henry Cuellar has maintained electoral support in his district over several election cycles. In 2024 he won re-election against Jay Furman with 52.8% of the vote; previous victories include defeating Cassy Garcia in 2022 (56.65%), Sandra Whitten in 2020 (58.3%), Arthur Thomas in 2018 (84.4%), Zeffen Hardin in 2016 (66.2%), and Will Alkens in 2014 (82.1%).
