U.S. Representative Henry Cuellar, who serves South Texas, recently addressed economic concerns and community developments in a series of social media posts dated August 5, 2025.
Cuellar commented on the current economic situation, stating in a post from August 5, 2025: “The latest jobs report confirms what working families across South Texas have known for months – the cost of living continues to rise, job growth is slowing, and economic uncertainty is deepening. As consumer spending falls due to unstable trade policies, businesses are hesitant”. In another post made on the same day, he shared additional information by directing followers to an external business source: “Read more from @business. https://t.co/yUJlGioJAD”.
On the topic of local health care initiatives, Cuellar highlighted efforts by his office to support community health services. In a post from August 5, 2025, he wrote: “My Outreach Coordinator, Adison Denham, recently joined community members and health care professionals to celebrate the grand opening of the new @Nextleveluc at Brooks City Base. This new clinic is a welcome addition to our community in San Antonio – delivering high-quality”.
Henry Cuellar has held his congressional seat through several election cycles. In 2024, he defeated Jay Furman with 52.8% of the vote; previous victories include wins against Cassy Garcia in 2022 (56.65%), Sandra Whitten in 2020 (58.3%), Arthur Thomas in 2018 (84.4%), Zeffen Hardin in 2016 (66.2%), and Will Alkens in 2014 (82.1%).
