On May 8, 2025, Cuellar participated in a House Appropriations Homeland Security hearing where he engaged with Acting FEMA Administrator Cam Hamilton. Later that day, Cuellar expressed his pride in hosting Santiago Cardenas as “#CongressmanForADay,” accompanied by Santiago’s mother Stephanie Cardenas and godmother Monica Alejandra Lopez.
