U.S. Representative Henry Cuellar, who has consistently secured reelection in Texas congressional races since 2014, recently highlighted his office’s involvement in community and legislative efforts addressing substance abuse and drug interdiction.
On September 2, 2025, Cuellar shared that his Laredo Outreach Coordinator attended a local event to honor those lost to overdose. He wrote, “Last weekend, my Laredo Outreach Coordinator, Melissa Peña, attended a Candlelight Vigil hosted by SCAN Inc. honoring the lives lost to overdose. Cuellar has represented his district through several election cycles with notable margins. In 2024 he won against Jay Furman by just over five percentage points; previous elections saw larger leads over opponents such as Cassy Garcia in 2022 (56.65%–43.35%), Sandra Whitten in 2020 (58.3%–39%), Arthur Thomas in 2018 (84.4%–15.6%), Zeffen Hardin in 2016 (66.2%–31.3%), and Will Alkens in 2014 (82.1%–13.3%).
