U.S. Representative Henry Cuellar shared updates on his recent legislative and community activities through a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter) in late August 2025. The posts covered federal funding for law enforcement initiatives, border security measures, and local cultural events.
On August 21, 2025, Cuellar announced his involvement in securing resources for individuals with developmental disabilities: “In the FY26 Commerce, Justice, and Science Appropriations bill, I helped secure $2 million for Kevin and Avonte’s Law, which provides resources to help state and local law enforcement locate and protect individuals with Alzheimer’s, autism, or other developmental disabilities who”.
Later that day, he addressed border security enhancements in Zapata County: “The deployment of an Aerostat in Zapata County is part of a program that enhances security, improves situational awareness, and optimizes resource allocation across the southern border. Flying at 3,000 feet, the Aerostat serves as a visible “eye in the sky,” acting as a strong”.
On August 22, Cuellar attended a local event celebrating regional traditions: “I attended the WBCA Mr. South Texas Announcement and was glad to join dignitaries and community leaders for this special event. It was wonderful to see everyone come together to celebrate a tradition that highlights the culture, pride, and spirit that make Laredo so special. I”.
Henry Cuellar has represented his district through multiple election cycles. In 2024 he won re-election against Jay Furman with 52.8% of the vote; previous victories include wins over Cassy Garcia in 2022 (56.65%), Sandra Whitten in 2020 (58.3%), Arthur Thomas in 2018 (84.4%), Zeffen Hardin in 2016 (66.2%), and Will Alkens in 2014 (82.1%).
