The following day, July 24, he shared details about local outreach efforts: “My San Antonio Outreach Coordinator, Jesus Martinez, presented a Congressional Certificate of Recognition to Hebron Baptist Church in St. Hedwig, Texas, honoring 116 years of faith-based service and spiritual leadership. Later on July 24, Cuellar announced funding secured for border security: “I’m excited to share another important win for South Texas in this year’s Homeland Security appropriations bill. I helped secure $346 million for border security technology, which includes surveillance systems, sensors, and detection tools to help frontline personnel detect,”.
Henry Cuellar has served as the U.S. Representative for Texas’s 28th District since replacing Ciro Rodriguez in 2005. Prior to his tenure in Congress, he was a member of the Texas House of Representatives from 1987 to 2001. Born in Laredo in 1955 and currently residing there at age 67, Cuellar holds degrees from Georgetown University (BA) and the University of Texas at Austin (JD).
