Rep. Henry Cuellar, a U.S. Congressman from Texas, used his social media platform on September 5, 2025, to highlight federal funding for education and comment on the latest national jobs report.

In one post, Rep. Cuellar stated, “Thanks to $3 million in federal funding I appropriated through the Department of Education, the LEAD Project at @laredopalominos is able to continue providing students with the resources they need to make the most of their education. On Tuesday, this funding helped them launch” (September 5, 2025).

Later that afternoon, Rep. Cuellar addressed concerns about recent employment data by writing: “Today’s jobs report is one of the worst since the COVID-19 pandemic. America lost jobs in June, hiring has slowed to its weakest level since 2021, and unemployment is rising.

Let me be clear: new tariffs are driving uncertainty, raising costs, and leading to layoffs and” (September 5, 2025).

Rep. Cuellar has represented his district through multiple election cycles; he was re-elected in 2024 after defeating Jay Furman with 52.8% of the vote. In previous years, he secured victories over Cassy Garcia in 2022 with 56.65%, Sandra Whitten in 2020 with 58.3%, Arthur Thomas in 2018 with 84.4%, Zeffen Hardin in 2016 with 66.2%, and Will Alkens in 2014 with 82.1%. These results demonstrate his sustained electoral support across several terms.
