Rep. Henry Cuellar, who represents Texas’s 28th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of updates on July 17, 2025, highlighting recent legislative achievements and community engagement efforts.
In a tweet published at 16:52 UTC, Cuellar announced funding for Hispanic-Serving Institutions: “I’m pleased to share another win for South Texas, benefiting communities like Bexar County. I helped secure $16 million in this year’s agriculture appropriations bill for Education Grants for Hispanic-Serving Institutions. This program strengthens the ability of Hispanic-Serving”.
Later that day, at 19:32 UTC, Cuellar shared a personal moment from Capitol Hill: “Today I took a moment to pray and reflect in the Congressional Prayer Room. It’s a quiet space near the Capitol rotunda, set aside in 1955 for Members of Congress to seek spiritual guidance.
The stained glass window shows George Washington in prayer, surrounded by the powerful”.
At 21:33 UTC on the same day, Cuellar reported on his office’s outreach activities: “My San Antonio Outreach Coordinator, Adison Denham, met with actor and founder Tony Plana at a reception for Seniors in Play to learn more about this impactful program.
Seniors in Play is a San Antonio–based initiative that brings theatrical programming to senior centers,”.
Henry Cuellar has served as the U.S. Representative for Texas’s 28th District since 2005 after succeeding Ciro Rodriguez. Before joining Congress, he was a member of the Texas House of Representatives from 1987 to 2001. Born in Laredo, Texas in 1955 and currently residing there at age 67, Cuellar holds degrees from Georgetown University (BA) and the University of Texas at Austin (JD).
