Rep. Henry Cuellar, who represents Texas’s 28th district in the U.S. Congress, announced a series of legislative achievements and personal moments on July 23, 2025, through his social media account.
In one post dated July 23, 2025, Cuellar highlighted funding secured for security initiatives: “I’m excited to share another important win for South Texas in this year’s Homeland Security appropriations bill. I helped secure $305 million for the Nonprofit Security Grant Program, which helps places of worship and other nonprofits enhance security to prevent targeted”.
Later that day, Cuellar shared a personal celebration involving his family and colleagues from the Texas A&M University System: “Today, in celebration of my daughter Christina’s birthday, I had the joy of taking her and her colleagues from @tamusystem, Kerry Kinirons and Janice Thomas, on their first tour of the U.S. Capitol Dome.
We had the rare opportunity to view The Apotheosis of Washington up close – ” (posted July 23).
Cuellar also announced additional federal support for emergency services: “I’m excited to share another important win for South Texas in this year’s Homeland Security appropriations bill. I helped secure $360 million for the Assistance to Firefighter Grant Program, which helps fire departments across the country purchase life-saving equipment, vehicles,” (July 23).
Henry Cuellar has served as a member of Congress since replacing Ciro Rodriguez in 2005 and currently resides in Laredo, Texas. Before his tenure in Congress began in 2005, he was a member of the Texas House of Representatives from 1987 to 2001. Born in Laredo in 1955 and now aged 67, Cuellar is an alumnus of Georgetown University (BA) and holds a JD from the University of Texas at Austin.
