U.S. Representative Henry Cuellar shared a series of posts on August 7, 2025, highlighting community events and national observances in South Texas.

On August 7, Cuellar reflected on the centennial celebration of the Franciscan Friars in Hebbronville. He wrote, “Yesterday evening, I attended a ceremony celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Franciscan Friars of Hebbronville and their century of faithful service to Jim Hogg County. The Friars arrived in 1926 escaping persecution in Mexico and have since been a vital part of the” (posted at 19:25 UTC).

Later that day, he marked Purple Heart Day with a tribute to military service members. In his post at 21:59 UTC, Cuellar stated, “Today on Purple Heart Day we honor and pay respect to the brave service members wounded or killed in combat. The Purple Heart is a symbol of their sacrifice, courage, and unwavering commitment to our country. Without the valor of these men and women, our freedom would not be”.

In another post from August 7 at 22:21 UTC, Cuellar described his participation in an event recognizing Gateway Community Health Center during National Health Center Week. He wrote, “This morning, I joined @GCHCTexas and @cityoflaredo Mayor Victor Treviño to celebrate National Health Center Week and award Gateway with a Congressional Recognition for their essential role in keeping South Texas healthy, strong, and connected. As the third-largest healthcare”.

Henry Cuellar has represented his district through multiple election cycles; most recently in 2024 he defeated Jay Furman with 52.8% of the vote compared to Furman’s 47.2%. In prior years he also prevailed over Cassy Garcia (2022), Sandra Whitten (2020), Arthur Thomas (2018), Zeffen Hardin (2016), and Will Alkens (2014). These consistent electoral victories underscore his longstanding role as a congressional representative for South Texas.
