U.S. Representative Henry Cuellar, who has consistently secured re-election in Texas congressional races since 2014, recently highlighted achievements and ongoing challenges in his district through a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter).
On September 23, 2025, Cuellar recognized the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley’s recent distinction by U.S. News & World Report, posting: “I’m excited to see @utrgv earn national recognition from @usnews. For the first time in its 10 year history, the university has been named one of the Most Innovative Schools in the country, an honor shared by only 66 universities nationwide. UTRGV is also ranked No. 1 in Texas”. In a separate post that day, he encouraged readers to learn more about these rankings: “Read the full ranking here: https://t.co/Rwgcp60K44”.
Continuing his engagement with local organizations, Cuellar posted on September 24 about his visit to Safer Path Family Violence Shelter. He wrote: “This afternoon I joined Rhonda Williamson, Executive Director, and Jessica Putz, Executive Board President, for a tour of the @SaferPathFVS to discuss critical funding challenges and the essential services they provide to Atascosa County and surrounding communities.”
Henry Cuellar has maintained a strong presence in Texas politics over the past decade. He won re-election against Jay Furman in 2024 with 52.8% of the vote; previous victories include defeating Cassy Garcia in 2022 with 56.65%, Sandra Whitten in 2020 with 58.3%, Arthur Thomas in 2018 with 84.4%, Zeffen Hardin in 2016 with 66.2%, and Will Alkens in 2014 with 82.1%. These results demonstrate Cuellar’s continued electoral support within his district.
