U.S. Representative Henry Cuellar used his social media platform on April 10, 2026, to share updates on community development efforts, legislative initiatives, and to honor a former colleague.
Cuellar began by highlighting National Community Development Week in Laredo. He wrote on April 10: “ICYMI: It’s National Community Development Week! I joined local leaders in @cityoflaredo to mark the occasion and highlight how federal investments through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and HOME programs continue to deliver real results across South Texas.”
Later that day, Cuellar announced his support for bipartisan healthcare legislation. In a tweet posted at 20:55 UTC, he stated: “I’m cosponsoring the bipartisan Protecting Patient Access to Cancer and Complex Therapies Act because families in South Texas should never have to worry about whether their doctor can afford to provide the care they need.
I thank my friends and colleagues, @RepAdamGrayCA and https://t.co/UeftlW6giZ“
In another post on April 10 at 21:03 UTC, Cuellar paid tribute to Eliot Engel. He wrote: “Today, I mourn the passing of my friend and former colleague, Eliot Engel.
Eliot carried an unmistakable kindness. In a place that moves quickly, he always made time for people. That stayed with me.
We worked together to advance the U.S.-Mexico Commission, a bipartisan effort https://t.co/DqtdbTlRvG“
Henry Cuellar has represented his district through multiple election cycles. In recent years he won re-election against Jay Furman in 2024 with approximately 52.8% of the vote; previous victories include contests against Cassy Garcia in 2022 (56.65%), Sandra Whitten in 2020 (58.3%), Arthur Thomas in 2018 (84.4%), Zeffen Hardin in 2016 (66.2%), and Will Alkens in 2014 (82.1%).
