On January 23, 2025, Rep. Cuellar reported on a meeting held in Washington D.C., with Hector Garza and other representatives from the border patrol union. He emphasized discussions focused on “issues regarding border security and ways that we can support our hard-working border patrol.” As a senior member of the House Appropriations Subcommittee, he is involved in these crucial dialogues “Yesterday in DC, I was pleased to meet with Hector Garza and other border patrol union representatives.”

Later that day, Cuellar attended the first full Appropriations Committee meeting for the 119th Congress. During this session, committee rules were formally organized and new members were welcomed.
