Rep. Henry Cuellar, a long-serving member of the U.S. Congress representing Texas’ 28th district, has recently expressed his stance on several key issues through social media. Cuellar, who has been in office since 2005 after succeeding Ciro Rodriguez, has been vocal about his opposition to certain legislative measures and judicial decisions.
On July 2, 2025, Rep. Cuellar shared his opposition to a partisan budget bill. He stated, “This morning, I stood in solidarity with my Democratic colleagues in firm opposition to the partisan budget bill.” He described the bill as “the biggest transfer of wealth from the working class to the rich in history,” and noted that it includes one of the largest debt ceiling increases in history.
The following day, on July 3, 2025, Cuellar directed his followers to further information available through an Associated Press article by posting “Read more in @AP.” This indicates his continued engagement with constituents on matters of public interest.
Also on July 3, Cuellar commented on a federal court’s decision regarding Job Corps programs. He noted that “A federal court blocked the @USDOL’s decision to ‘pause’ Job Corps nationwide.” He highlighted that nearly 200 students in Laredo would have been affected by losing access to housing, education, and career training opportunities if the program had been effectively ended.
Henry Cuellar was born in Laredo, Texas in 1955 and currently resides there. He graduated from Georgetown University with a BA and later earned a JD from the University of Texas at Austin.
