Rep. Henry Cuellar, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Texas’ 28th district, shared updates on his recent activities through a series of tweets. Cuellar has been an active member of Congress since 2005, succeeding Ciro Rodriguez, and has a long history of public service including time in the Texas House of Representatives.
On July 9, 2025, Cuellar tweeted about organizing a meeting with Army leaders and San Antonio Mayor Gina Ortiz Jones. The gathering included city officials Sally Basurto, Major General Juan Ayala, Walter Serna, former Congressman Filemon Vela, and staffers from the offices of Senators Ted Cruz and Representatives Greg Casar and Tony Gonzales.
The following day, on July 10, 2025, Cuellar discussed his appearance on CNN with Abby Phillip to address the severe flooding affecting Central Texas communities. He emphasized the importance of providing resources to first responders and assistance to affected families.
Later that same day, Cuellar shared his experience visiting the American History Museum with his daughters. They explored an exhibit highlighting Latino journalists’ legacy in the United States. A notable feature was a reproduction of El Misisipi from 1808, recognized as the nation’s first Spanish-language newspaper.
Henry Cuellar was born in Laredo, Texas in 1955 and continues to reside there. He graduated from Georgetown University with a BA in 1978 and earned a JD from the University of Texas at Austin in 1981.
