On March 17, 2025, Rep. Cuellar expressed his honor in presenting a Congressional Recognition to Pastor Gilberto Velez and Iglesia Cristiana Misericordia for their three decades of service. He noted the church’s role as “a beacon of faith, love, and service,” spreading its message throughout the community. “I was honored to present a Congressional Recognition to Pastor Gilberto Velez and Iglesia Cristiana Misericordia in celebration of the church’s 30th anniversary.”
Later that day, Cuellar attended the church’s anniversary service with his wife Imelda and Texas State Representative Richard Raymond.
