Rep. Henry Cuellar, a U.S. Congressman representing Texas’s 28th district, recently addressed concerns about the impact of a partisan budget on health care and nutrition programs in South Texas through a series of posts on his official X (formerly Twitter) account.

On August 12, 2025, Rep. Cuellar wrote: “A recent report from the @USCBO confirms what we already knew – the partisan budget passed last month funds tax breaks to the wealthiest households by slashing critical health care and nutrition programs that everyday families in South Texas rely on.” He further commented, “While the top 10% will,” but did not complete the sentence in this post.

In a follow-up message posted seconds later on August 12, he shared additional information for readers: “Read more from @PunchbowlNews. https://t.co/tZ4ZEK07qF”

The day before, on August 11, Rep. Cuellar also posted an update without additional commentary: https://t.co/es2zcgNlki

Henry Cuellar has maintained his seat in Congress through multiple election cycles. In 2024, he defeated Jay Furman with 52.8% of the vote; previous victories include wins over Cassy Garcia in 2022 (56.65%), Sandra Whitten in 2020 (58.3%), Arthur Thomas in 2018 (84.4%), Zeffen Hardin in 2016 (66.2%), and Will Alkens in 2014 (82.1%). These results reflect his longstanding incumbency and continued support within his district.
