Representative Henry Cuellar, known for his longstanding service in the U.S. Congress representing Texas’ 28th district, recently shared his participation in significant local community events through social media. A familiar face in South Texas, Cuellar took to Twitter on April 27, 2025, to speak about his engagements in Freer, San Isidro, and Rio Grande City.
On April 27, Representative Cuellar expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome he received during his visit to the 60th Annual Rattlesnake Roundup in Freer. He highlighted the event as a proud celebration of South Texas pride, tradition, and hospitality, looking forward to the continuation of this vibrant tradition.
Continuing his engagements within the community, Cuellar participated in the 4th Annual San Isidro Cook-Off on the same date. He acknowledged the efforts of those involved in the event’s success, from organizers to participants, and appreciated the opportunity to interact with individuals ranging from Border Patrol officers to local business owners.
In a subsequent tweet, Cuellar commended the City of Rio Grande City and Chamber of Commerce for orchestrating the 2nd Annual Pit Boss Showdown. Cuellar remarked on the event’s spirit, which featured live music, food, and community camaraderie, making for an ideal day of family and neighborly enjoyment.
Cuellar, born in Laredo, Texas, in 1955, has served Texas’ 28th district since replacing Ciro Rodriguez in 2005. His educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts from Georgetown University and a Juris Doctor from the University of Texas at Austin.
