Rep. Henry Cuellar, a long-serving member of the U.S. Congress representing Texas’ 28th district, recently shared updates on his ongoing efforts and initiatives through a series of tweets. Cuellar has been in office since 2005, succeeding Ciro Rodriguez, and has a background in law with degrees from Georgetown University and the University of Texas at Austin.

On March 21, 2025, Rep. Cuellar highlighted his visit to the ROOTS Recovery Center in Laredo. He expressed pride in supporting the facility by securing $2 million in federal funding for what was formerly known as the City of Laredo Detoxification Center. This funding aims to provide critical addiction treatment services to the community. “Yesterday, I had the chance to visit the ROOTS Recovery Center, a facility I’m deeply proud to support.”

In another tweet posted on March 21, 2025, Rep. Cuellar addressed water-sharing issues between the United States and Mexico under a longstanding treaty from 1944. He emphasized that American farmers are being prioritized as the U.S. denied Mexico’s request for Colorado River water for Tijuana outside of treaty obligations. “As a Congressman, I’ve supported efforts to ensure Mexico meets its water-sharing obligations under the 1944 treaty.”

Later that day, Rep. Cuellar shared details about his meeting with Webb County Sheriff Martin Cuellar and law enforcement officials from Mexico and Argentina. The discussion focused on enhancing collaboration between these groups for stronger coordination efforts moving forward.“It was great meeting with Webb County Sheriff Martin Cuellar and law enforcement officials from both Mexico and Argentina.”
