Henry Cuellar, a long-serving member of the U.S. Congress representing Texas’ 28th district since 2005, shared several updates on his activities and those of his team through a series of tweets dated May 9, 2025.

In a tweet posted on May 9, 2025, Cuellar highlighted an event featuring Santiago as “#CongressmanForADay.” “This week, our #CongressmanForADay Santiago enjoyed breakfast at the U.S. Capitol and met with ambassadors and legislators from El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Panama, and a full delegation of Central American leaders. He also met my colleague @RepCiscomani from the great state” wrote Cuellar.

Later that day on May 9, 2025, Cuellar expressed gratitude towards Rep. Mike Rogers for acknowledging Santiago Cardenas’ participation in the program. “A big thank you to my friend @HASCrepublicans Chair @RepMikeRogersAL for the kind words about our #CongressmanForADay Santiago Cardenas! We’re proud of this young leader and grateful for your support.”

Additionally, Cuellar reported on an event attended by his Laredo Outreach Coordinator at the Jesse Gonzalez Día de las Madres event. On May 9, 2025, he tweeted: “At the Jesse Gonzalez Día de las Madres event, my Laredo Outreach Coordinator Andres Velazquez had the pleasure of joining in the fun and celebrating the incredible mothers from community centers across Webb County. The event was filled with surprises including a lively game”.

Henry Cuellar has been serving in Congress since replacing Ciro Rodriguez in 2005 after previously serving in the Texas House of Representatives from 1987 to 2001. Born in Laredo in 1955 and currently residing there at age 67, Cuellar holds degrees from Georgetown University and the University of Texas at Austin.
