Representative Henry Cuellar has issued a series of statements on social media addressing the potential impacts of a government shutdown on South Texas and affirming his office’s commitment to constituent services.
On September 29, 2025, Cuellar posted, “A government shutdown would seriously harm South Texas. Border Patrol agents and Customs officers would be forced to work without pay. Veterans would face delays in care. Disaster assistance payments for the devastating flooding in the Hill Country would be delayed, leaving https://t.co/s0AioEH24V”.
