Henry Cuellar, the U.S. Congressman representing Texas’ 28th district since 2005, recently shared a series of tweets reflecting both local and broader community concerns. Cuellar has been an active figure in politics, serving previously in the Texas House of Representatives from 1987 to 2001.

On May 22, 2025, Cuellar posted about Santiago Cardenas’ experience as “Congressman for a Day.” Cardenas had the opportunity to throw the first pitch at a Tecos game, an event attended by family and friends. Cuellar noted that his Laredo Outreach Coordinator, Melissa Peña, was present on his behalf to witness this special occasion. The tweet can be viewed here.

Later that day, Cuellar expressed his grief over an attack on the Washington Jewish community. He conveyed his prayers for those affected at the Embassy and mourned the loss of two young lives due to what he described as “evil, antisemitic violence.” He emphasized that violence has no place in society. The full tweet is available here.

Additionally, Cuellar shared another post with only a link included. The content of this tweet remains unspecified but can be accessed here.

Cuellar continues to serve his district with dedication while residing in Laredo, Texas. He graduated from Georgetown University in 1978 and earned a JD from the University of Texas at Austin in 1981.
