Rep. Henry Cuellar, who has been serving in the U.S. Congress representing Texas’ 28th district since 2005, recently addressed several issues through his social media platform. The Congressman, born in Laredo, Texas in 1955 and a graduate of Georgetown University and the University of Texas at Austin, shared his views on budgetary concerns, community engagement, and educational programs.
On June 6, 2025, Rep. Cuellar expressed his readiness to collaborate across party lines with his House Blue Dogs colleagues to address fiscal issues. He stated: “My @HouseBlueDogs colleagues and I are ready to work across the aisle to cut waste, reduce the debt, and deliver real results for the communities we represent.” He criticized the current budget bill for adding to national debt while cutting essential services.
Later that day, Cuellar highlighted a local achievement by announcing a recognition event in New Berlin, TX. He noted: “In celebration of its grand opening, my San Antonio Outreach Coordinator, Jesus Martinez, had the pleasure of presenting a Congressional Certificate of Recognition to Emmy’s Tex-Mex Restaurant.” This event underscored community development through small business success.
Additionally on June 6th, Cuellar discussed educational program operations in Laredo. He joined fellow House members in addressing concerns about proposed changes to Job Corps operations by stating: “I joined with my House colleagues in a bipartisan letter urging @USDOL to reverse its plan to pause @DOLJobCorps operations across the country.” This decision could impact nearly 200 students who rely on these programs for housing during summer months.
Henry Cuellar has served as an influential figure since replacing Ciro Rodriguez in Congress. Prior to this role he was part of the Texas House of Representatives from 1987 until 2001.
