Rep. Henry Cuellar, U.S. Congressman representing Texas’ 28th district since 2005, recently highlighted several community and federal initiatives in a series of tweets posted between July 24 and July 25, 2025.
On July 24, Cuellar shared a milestone celebration involving his staff: “My San Antonio Outreach Coordinator, Jesus Martinez, had the pleasure of joining family and friends to celebrate Marge Stephenson’s 100th birthday, marking a truly remarkable milestone. Throughout her life, Marge has remained politically engaged, staying informed and active on https://t.co/HW8XVQq4Li”.
The following day, Cuellar announced new federal investment in local industry: “I’m excited to announce that the Army has awarded a $67.8 million contract to @vibrantworksusa (formerly known as San Antonio Lighthouse for the Blind and Vision Impaired), a longtime San Antonio institution that employs visually impaired Texans to manufacture extreme weather https://t.co/JQcgeiWiHL”. Vibrant Works USA is recognized for providing employment opportunities for visually impaired individuals in San Antonio.
Later on July 25, Cuellar addressed recent developments in education funding: “After signaling a freeze on federal education funding, the @usedgov has now released key K–12 funds — including support for programs funded by the $3.3M I secured for @unitedisd. In our district, that means STEM, tutoring, and certification support for parents. I’ll keep”.
Henry Cuellar was born in Laredo, Texas in 1955 and continues to reside there at age 67. He holds degrees from Georgetown University (BA) and the University of Texas at Austin (JD). Before his tenure in Congress began in 2005—succeeding Ciro Rodriguez—he served in the Texas House of Representatives from 1987 to 2001.
