Representative Henry Cuellar, a long-serving member of the U.S. Congress representing Texas’ 28th district, recently shared updates on his activities via social media. His posts covered topics ranging from community recognition to pressing issues in homeland security.
On May 10, 2025, Cuellar expressed his pleasure in presenting a Congressional Certificate of Recognition to Alma Martinez and her team at Angel’s Mexican Haven in San Antonio. He highlighted their service to the Eastside community over the past 21 years. Cuellar noted “Alma’s journey – from starting as a dishwasher” as an inspiring story of dedication and success.
Later that day, Cuellar addressed concerns about operational inefficiencies within border security during a Homeland Security hearing. He emphasized that “Two-thirds [of cameras] are not working. That’s not right.” He urged Secretary Noem to prioritize functional technology for Customs and Border Protection (CBP), improve infrastructure along the Rio Grande, and enhance staffing levels by hiring more agents.
Henry Cuellar has been serving in Congress since 2005 after succeeding Ciro Rodriguez. Prior to this role, he was part of the Texas House of Representatives from 1987 to 2001. Born in Laredo, Texas, in 1955, Cuellar is an alumnus of Georgetown University and holds a JD from the University of Texas at Austin.
