Rep. Henry Cuellar, a longtime Democratic congressman from Texas, published several statements on his social media account on November 6, 2025, addressing both the retirement of Speaker Nancy Pelosi and his views on border security.
In a post thanking the outgoing House Speaker, Cuellar wrote: “Thank you, Madam Speaker, for your friendship, your example, and your tireless work on behalf of the American people.” (November 6, 2025).
He further reflected on Pelosi’s career in another message the same day: “Today, my friend and colleague, @SpeakerPelosi, announced her retirement after more than four decades of public service – a remarkable journey that has shaped our nation and inspired generations of leaders. History rarely remembers the easy days, and Nancy never looked for them.” (November 6, 2025).
On border policy issues, Cuellar expressed support for modernized approaches to security rather than traditional barriers. He stated: “Smart, modern solutions are what our border needs, not traditional walls. I support effective border security that strengthens law enforcement and combats fentanyl and human trafficking. I’ve worked in a bipartisan way to secure funding for personnel, technology, and river and” (November 6, 2025).
