Rep. Henry Cuellar, who has served in the U.S. Congress representing Texas’ 28th district since 2005, recently shared updates on his activities and engagements through a series of tweets. Cuellar, born in Laredo, Texas in 1955, has been a long-standing public servant with previous experience in the Texas House of Representatives from 1987 to 2001.
On May 7, 2025, Rep. Cuellar acknowledged Correctional Officer Week by sending his Laredo Outreach Coordinator, Melissa Pena, to attend the Webb County Sheriff’s Office Award Ceremony on his behalf. He highlighted the event’s purpose to honor “the commitment and service of many correctional officers” in a tweet.
Later that day, Cuellar tweeted about his meeting with @TSAPhysicians to discuss efforts aimed at improving access to surgical care across Texas. He reiterated his commitment in Congress to “supporting initiatives that strengthen health care for families across our communities” in another post.
Additionally, Cuellar mentioned that his Chief of Staff Patrick O’Connor met with families affected by brain aneurysms during @BAFOUND’s Brain Aneurysm Advocacy Day. These interactions serve as a reminder of the importance of investing in research and awareness regarding brain aneurysms as noted in his tweet.
Henry Cuellar holds degrees from Georgetown University and the University of Texas at Austin and currently resides in Laredo.
