Rep. Henry Cuellar, a longstanding member of the U.S. Congress representing Texas’ 28th district, shared several updates on social media regarding his recent activities and achievements. Known for his extensive political career since replacing Ciro Rodriguez in 2005, Cuellar continues to be active in various capacities.
On May 8, 2025, Cuellar tweeted about his role as Vice Chair of The Congressional Hispanic Leadership Institute (CHLI), expressing honor in welcoming President Luis Abinader of the Dominican Republic and Ambassador Alfredo Ferrero Diez Canseco of Peru to Washington. He noted it was a special moment for him as he also saw Secretary Marco Rubio from the State Department. On May 9, 2025, Cuellar proudly announced that he received a Graduate Certificate from the Bush School at Texas A&M University, where he took classes on homeland security. This accomplishment is alongside his Professional Certificate in Budget and Finance from Georgetown University, enhancing his professional credentials further. “I’m proud to share that today I received my Graduate Certificate from the @BushSchool at @TAMU, where I took classes on homeland security. This is in addition to my Professional Certificate in Budget and Finance from @Georgetown University.”
Later that day, during a House Appropriations Oversight hearing, Cuellar discussed with Bridget Bean, Executive Director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), about measuring performance efforts related to securing national cyber infrastructure. Emphasizing the importance of protecting U.S. networks from foreign interference remains critical for national security according to Cuellar’s remarks during this session. “At today’s House Appropriations Oversight hearing, I spoke with @CISAgov Executive Director Bridget Bean about how we measure the performance of efforts to secure our nation’s #cyber infrastructure.”
Henry Cuellar has served in Congress since 2005 after previously serving in the Texas House of Representatives from 1987 until 2001. Born in Laredo, Texas in 1955 and currently residing there at age 67, Cuellar holds degrees from Georgetown University and the University of Texas at Austin.
