LAREDO POLICE DEPATMENT: Last Minute Holiday Safety Tips

Safetyholiday

Laredo Police Department issued the following announcement on Dec. 23.

The Laredo Police Department would like to recommend some last minute safety tips for the holidays!

Patrol by notices-

If you are heading out of town for the holidays and will be away from your home for a few days, we recommend that you make a patrol by request. Patrol by's are a notice to Laredo Police that you will be out of the residence for a few days. The Officers in your area will be notified and will keep an eye out for any suspicious activity and watch for anyone that should not be there while you are gone. The service is absolutely free of charge and all you have to do is call (956)-795-2800 and inform dispatch of the location and dates when you will be out of the home. There is nothing like a little piece of mind while you're out of your home for the holidays.

Don't show criminals what you got for Christmas!

No Boxes out of the recycle bin after Christmas-

There are criminals driving around the neighborhoods looking for information about what people got for Christmas so they can break into houses and steal it. People should break down the boxes and put it into their recycling bins. Prevent yourself from becoming a crime victim.

These are some suggestions that may prove useful. We hope you and your families are safe this holiday season. Merry Christmas!
