Zapata County ISD Education: 3,287 students were enrolled in schools in 2021-22 school year

There were 3,287 students enrolled in Zapata County ISD schools in the 2021-22 school year, 5.7% less than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2021-22 school year, 53.4% of them were boys, and 46.6% were girls.

Data also shows that the majority of students were Hispanic, representing 99.3% of the Zapata County ISD total enrollment.

Zapata County ISD roughly covers schools within Zapata County with its main office in Zapata.

Among the six schools in Zapata County ISD, Zapata High School recorded the highest enrollment of 987 students in the 2021-22 school year.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
