Cost of college went up for all students at Texas A & M International University

In-state tuition and fees rose 0.5 percent for 2018-19 at Texas A & M International University, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Texas residents paid $7,176 to attend the four-year public institution this year – $33 more than the $7,143 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 151.7 percent more than residents this year, or $18,064. Their price tag grew 3.8 percent from $17,411 in 2017-18.

About 97 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Texas residents. About 1 percent are residents of other states and 2 percent are citizens of other countries.

Data shows 81 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 878 students received grants or scholarships totaling $7.9 million and 254 students took out student loans totaling more than $1 million.

Including all undergraduates (7,884), 4,544 students used grants or scholarships totaling $33.1 million, and 2,299 students took out $12.7 million in federal student loans.
