Laredo Police Department issued the following announcement on Nov. 9.
November is here and online Christmas shopping begins. If you have packages delivered to your house we make these recommendations to help you avoid becoming a victim of a "porch pirate" stealing your packages and your Christmas cheer.
If you are ordering packages to be delivered to your home keep these tips in mind:
• Have your package delivered to your work if allowed by your supervisor.
• Have your package delivered to the home of a relative or friend that you know will be home at time or day of delivery.
• Have your package held at your local post office or delivery service for pickup.
• Take advantage of “Ship to Store” option that many stores offer.
• Request your package have a signature confirmation upon delivery.
• Ask your carrier to place package in an area out of plain view.
