City Of Laredo issued the following announcement on Dec. 16.
History was made today as Laredo Medical Center administered the first COVID-19 Pfizer vaccines in Laredo that were recently approved by the FDA. Laredo Medical Center was the first medical provider in the City to receive 975 COVID-19 vaccines. The vaccines were administered to medical professionals at LMC who gave consent. The first person to receive the vaccine was Laredo’s Health Authority, Dr. Victor Treviño.
“This indeed is a historical day and I’m delighted that LMC received the COVID-19 vaccines,” said Mayor Pete Saenz. “On behalf of the City of Laredo, congratulations to the staff. You are champions who are saving lives every single day.”
City Manager Robert Eads, also congratulated Laredo Medical Center’s staff and asked them to continue to fight for those who are sick. “I see this vaccine as an armor that your team needs to fight this virus. A shield to carry you forward. “ said Eads.
Additionally, 1,950 doses of the vaccine have arrived in Laredo and will be distributed to STAT Emergency Center tomorrow, Friday, December 18.
