Washington, DC – On July 20, U.S. Congressman Henry Cuellar (TX-28) announced his membership on the Greenlights Grant Initiative (GGI) Congressional Advisory Board. GGI is a project of Matthew McConaughey’s just keep livin Foundation aimed at helping school districts nationwide access billions of dollars in federal funding made possible by the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act.The Bipartisan Safer Communities Act was signed into law in June 2022. The law provides funding to expand access to mental health services and support school safety. Funding is available to enhance the physical safety of schools, provide safety and violence prevention programs, and expand school-based mental health services.
“Last year, I voted for the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act to make our schools safer. I am pleased to join the Greenlights Grant Initiative (GGI) Congressional Advisory Board to help directly connect South Texas school districts with school safety funding opportunities,” said Congressman Cuellar. “Our students are the most important investment in our country, and I will continue to support them as they achieve their American Dream. I look forward to continuing this important work with my fellow Texans, Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) and Congressman Tony Gonzales (R-TX-23), and the entire GGI Congressional Advisory Board. Thank you to Matthew McConaughey and the just keep livin Foundation for inviting me to be a part of this incredible organization.”
