On August 15, U.S. Congressman Henry Cuellar, Ph.D. (TX-28) announced $963,000 in Congressionally directed funding for Texas A&M International University’s (TAMIU) STEM Connector Project with Laredo College. The funds will be used to create a graduate certificate in Systems Engineering at TAMIU, develop a coordinated engineering curriculum at TAMIU and Laredo College, purchase high-performing computers and other computer lab hardware, and hire engineering lab staff.

On August 11, U.S. Congressman Henry Cuellar (TX-28) announced $500,000 in Congressionally directed funding for the McMullen County fairgrounds. The funds will be used to renovate the fairgrounds with improved lighting for parking and arena areas, an upgraded livestock show animal barn, and a new pavilion.

On July 26, U.S. Congressman Henry Cuellar (TX-28) hosted a webinar to discuss energy funding and consumer tax incentives with the U.S. Department of Energy. Assistant Director of Technical Assistance and Partnerships Michael Forrester and Policy Analyst John Agan discussed a wide range of funding opportunities for South Texas residents. The webinar focused on funding opportunities made possible by last year’s Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), which is the single largest investment in climate and energy in American history. The IRA includes tax provisions to save families money on energy bills and funding to improve electric services in rural areas.
