There were 79 white students enrolled in Laredo ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 31.7% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Data showed that Laredo ISD schools welcomed 20,932 students during the 2022-23 school year. Among them, white students comprised 0.4% of the student body to be one of the least represented ethnicities in the district.

Laredo ISD roughly covers schools within Webb County and has a main office in Laredo.

Among the 30 schools in Laredo ISD schools, Nixon High School recorded the highest enrollment of white students in the 2022-23 school year, with a total of 24 students.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
