Henry Cuellar discusses community health needs and future research plans

Rep. Henry Cuellar, a longstanding member of the U.S. Congress representing Texas' 28th district, recently shared updates on his engagements and discussions with key figures in community health and education sectors. On February 6, 2025, Cuellar detailed these interactions through a series of tweets.

On the morning of February 6, Rep. Cuellar reported speaking with representatives from CommuniCare and Nuestra Clinica Del Valle to address "critical needs in our community health centers across the country." During this meeting, he was honored with the Distinguished Community Health Center Advocate Award for 2025. "This morning, I spoke with representatives from CommuniCare and Nuestra Clinica Del Valle to discuss critical needs in our community health centers across the country. They also presented me with the Distinguished Community Health Center Advocate Award for 2025."

Later that day, Cuellar recounted reconnecting with Carlos Medina, Chief Medical Officer for Nuestra Clinica Del Valle in San Juan, Texas. He reminisced about presenting Medina with a Border Patrol Youth of the Month certificate years ago in Laredo. "Today, during my meeting with community clinic representatives, I reconnected with Carlos Medina, Chief Medical Officer for the Nuestra Clinica Del Valle in San Juan, Texas."

In another engagement on February 6, Rep. Cuellar discussed Rice University's strategic plan concerning research on clean water access and energy in South Texas with Dr. Reggie Desroches, President of Rice University. As a senior member of the House Appropriations Committee, Cuellar expressed his support for these initiatives. "Today, I spoke with Dr. Reggie Desroches, President of Rice University."
