City of Laredo issued the following announcement on Oct. 28.
The City of Laredo and Vidal Rodriguez, Council Member for District II, hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony on Wednesday, October 28, 2020 to celebrate the opening of Las Misiones Park. This has been a continuous effort from Council Member Vidal Rodriguez to increase the number of parks and recreational activities in District II.
The allotted budget for Las Misiones Park was $250,000. Webb County Commissioner for Precinct 1, Jesse Gonzalez, and the Honorable Justice of the Peace Precinct 2 Place 1, Roberto “Bobby” Quintana are collaborating together with Constable Mike Villarreal and Commissioner Wawi Tijerina by offering extra constable patrol for safety and volunteer service opportunities and community hours to anyone in Laredo with the goal of keeping the park clean and safe.
The park will include amenities for guests including a walking trail with solar lighting, playground for kids, a shaded pavilion with barbeque pits and picnic tables, flag football field, drinking fountains, and an exercise station. It currently sits on 10 acres and is part of a larger project that will consist of 32 acres for a regional park in South-East Laredo. The park is located at 6001 Servando Ave. Laredo, TX 78043.
